Confidential contraceptive advice, supply, and ongoing support to help you choose and maintain the birth control method that’s right for you.
Finding the time to see your GP or attend a sexual health clinic for contraception is not always easy. Our pharmacy contraceptive service gives you another option, with consultations available at times that fit around work, study and family life.
Whether you are starting contraception for the first time, restarting after a break or need a further supply of the pill you already take, our pharmacist can help. Your consultation takes place in our private consultation room and is completely confidential.
The pharmacist will ask about your medical history, any medicines you take and your lifestyle, and may check your blood pressure, height and weight. This is to make sure the method you are given is safe and suitable for you. If it is, your supply can be provided during the same visit, and we will let you know when to come back for a review.
There are many methods of contraception available and no single method suits everyone. The pharmacist can explain how the different options work, how reliable they are and what side effects to look out for. If you are interested in a long-acting method such as an implant, injection or coil, we can tell you where these are provided locally.
Most methods of contraception do not protect against sexually transmitted infections, so condoms are still important. Speak to a member of staff if you have any questions, or book a consultation online.
